Unnecessary Nostalgia (The First of Many, I'm sure)

Here is our new house . It's perched on the very top of the highest hill in city that us Nordeasters call Norwegian Hill. I'm purposely not posting photos of the inside because I have to leave some suspense, right?

We close on a Tuesday & every week when Tuesday comes I think "__ more weeks, that'll go fast!" and then I look back to what I was doing that many weeks ago and realize that it will indeed come quickly. I love summer so much, but this summer I am looking forward to it's end because then we get to move!

But it's funny how nostalgic one gets when on the brink of change. This morning I walked to the diner near our house to have breakfast. When I walked in the door it was packed (par for the course on a Sunday morning) and I thought to myself, "This is such a nice neighborhood place, I will really miss it," I ordered my food feeling very melancholic and thought about how many times I've had eggs, toast & coffee there. I breathed a long sigh and felt very amused with myself.

The truth is, the diner is handy, but the service is awful (they pride themselves on that) and the food is really just okay, and I think it's a feat in itself for a breakfast spot to have eggs and toast that are just okay. The nostalgia is unnecessary; I am certain we will have no trouble finding another breakfast spot in our new neighborhood and we will be probably enjoy that one much more and if we don't, well it's only a 10 minute drive back to our old neighborhood.

  2. I totally know what you mean. And speaking from experience - that nostalgia will fade away into something way better. How could it not!? It's in Nordeast!
