Susan Boyle Made Me Cry Too.

I am a little bit late to the punch with this one, I know.
Thanks to another blog I read I was directed to this Youtube video which I watched only a few moments ago. I was weeping, yes weeping by the time it finished and I am still a little bit teary as I write this. Take a look & then if you wish, read this article from The Huffington Post for more Susan Boyle facts. And grab a box of kleenex.

Housewives

Last night Bravo aired The Real Housewives of New Jersey 30 minute preview. I hate to say it, but it was like real life Sopranos ladies without the Mafia. Gigantic houses that are fairly new, shiny cars, lavish home decor, and lots of tawk. Everyone is related (2 of the 5 are sisters and are married to a set of brothers, another woman is married to the brother of the two sisters, and the other 2 are friends) and everyone has money. Yet they are quick to say, "I didn't grow with this, this is new to me."

This should be a good series. I think the suburban aspect is nice and unlike the my favorite ladies in NYC, these ladies are not too prim & proper to let it go when conflict arises. There will be some good fights.

Meanwhile in New York, Luann has become so annoying. I mean, come on! Volunteer your time with adolescant girls from Brooklyn at The Boys & Girls club and talk to them about being a Countess (gag) and tell the girl who said she wanted to be a babysitter she was "cute" and the one who wanted to be a model that her face was pretty, she could still grow tall and "losing weight was the easiest part". Seriously?! Once upon a time Luann was my favorite, but her self absorbtion has become so clear in recent episodes, even Ramona ranks higher.

Paris + my mom + the real housewives...

Tonight I have kind of a lot to blog about...Blahg Blahg Blahg.

First & foremost. PARIS!
After I last wrote I took the train with bleary eyed commuters to Champs-Elysse. I got off the train & was immediately approached by an elderly woman walking with a cane. She spoke quickly with great agitation to me in French and in French I told her I was sorry but I didn't speak very much French.

"BAH!" Lots of French & AMERICANS & more French. I laughed & marveled at the famous street I was walking down in hour just before sunrise all the while singing the song from JR high french class, "Oh, Champs-Elysse..."

I arrived at L'Arc d'Triomphe & walked all the way around snapping photos along the way. Every early morning jogger who passed me would cause me to think, "Wow! They live in PARIS!" Needless to say, I was enamored by the city.

I walked back to the train and rode to Hotel Deville. I walked over the Siene & returned to Notre Dame. 8am Monday morning is so very different than 4pm on Sunday afternoon. It was quiet, nearly empty with the exception of those there to attend morning Mass. I walked back to Hotel Deville and found a cafe to eat my final French meal: a chocolate croissant and coffee. I ordered in French & was replied to in French which was so validating of my French speaking skills..and then back to the hotel to get ready to fly home.

Next.
I stopped by my mom's house the last night & was taken aback by her living room. It has been overtaken by Tiffany Lamps. Four very beautiful Tiffany lamps grace the presence of my mother's lovely mission style bungalow living room. I asked her what was going on and she non chalantly replied that there was a really good sale & she couldn't pick (3 for under $100 total - that is pretty good). She asked my advice & I told her that I would relocate 2 of the four to other rooms. She agreed but then gave me a long list of reasons why she couldn't...so I giggled & called her the Tiffany Lamp Lady. She laughed & said, "Well, better than cats!".

And finally.
The Real Housewives of Orange County 08-09 season ended tonight. While the traditional reunion episode airs next week, I count the season as being over. I am so glad. The cattyness was annoying & the endless ripping on Gretchen was so tiring. In the end, Gretchen was my favorite and it was the constant berating of her on Tamra's part that has led me to almost despise the show. almost.

I've almost had it. Almost.

Is anyone else out there watching The Real Housewives of Orange County?

For the 3rd season in a row, I am. But unlike any other year, I cannot wait for this season to be over.

This season has been so intensely caddy and two faced that I've been sent into horrific 8th grade flashbacks (My Girbaud jeans are real, I promise and no I was not flirting Josh at lunch). Tonight Vicky called Gretchen a copycat (behind her back, of course) for having Dirty Vodka Martinis with bleu cheese stuffed olives as her favorite cocktail. Okay Vicky, as if that cocktail is so original that you would be the only one. Why can't they just have that in common? Then there was the eye rolling from Tamra and touts of feeling embarassed by Lynn & Gretchen's dancing in a Vegas night club. Tamra, could it just be that they both are comfortable with themselves (or had enough cocktails) to dance, have a good time while looking great with little self conscience? Obviously something you are unfamiliar with.

I guess the caddyness is contagious.

I'm ready for the season to end, and complain as I might, I will tune in next week and see this season through.

Dallas Frenzy.

This is what Handsome Randy & I look forward at the end of most of our weekdays.

It started as a half witted joke between us one evening when we stumbled upon it. Now it has evolved into something we look forward to & make sure we don't miss.

We're really into it.

We loathe J.R. & Cliff while cheering on Sue Ellen, Bobby & Pam, and we love Miss Ellie. We have even referenced The Official Dallas Website regarding the family tree and back stories.

I grew up watching Dallas with my mom on Friday nights. During the opening credits I would strut in front of our living room mirror flipping my hair and pretending to be Pam or Jenna. So the love was already there on my part - it just needed to be re-tapped.

Tune in if your up, every weekday night/morning at 3am on Soapnet.
